Marie's Menu Picker ("the App") is a household meal planning tool. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Information We Collect
- Account information: Email address, name, and a hashed password when you register.
- Recipe data: Recipes, ingredients, and meal plans you create or import.
- Pantry data: Ingredient inventory you choose to log.
- Phone number: Only when you explicitly choose to text a shopping list to yourself via SMS.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide meal planning, recipe management, and shopping list features.
- To send you SMS shopping lists only when you request them.
- To improve meal suggestions based on your pantry and favorites.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
SMS Messaging
- SMS messages are sent only at your explicit request (tapping "Text List").
- Message frequency depends entirely on your usage. No automated or recurring messages are sent.
- Message and data rates may apply depending on your carrier.
- You can stop using the SMS feature at any time by simply not requesting texts.
- We do not store your phone number after sending the message.
Third-Party Services
- Amazon Web Services (Bedrock): Used to parse recipe text and images. Recipe content is sent to AWS for processing but is not stored by AWS beyond the API call.
- Twilio: Used to deliver SMS shopping lists. Your phone number and list contents are transmitted through Twilio's messaging service.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in a secured PostgreSQL database. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. The application runs on a private server with restricted access.
Data Deletion
You can delete your recipes, pantry items, and meal plans at any time through the app. To delete your account entirely, contact us at the email below.
